Poroshenko assures CoE that elections to be held in eastern regions

 Rights of all Ukrainian voters and presidential candidates will be protected, and elections will be held at the scheduled date - May 25. Presidential runner Petro Poroshenko told this to the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in response to their concern about the fate of elections in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Ukrainian media reported.

"Ensuring the elections is the protection of the state, own family - we must understand this just this way. Postponing the elections leads to a sharp destabilization, total de-legitimization of the authorities, because a weak state is an easy prey for the aggressor who has already occupied part of our territory," Poroshenko said.
