Foreign Ministry says under what conditions Geneva 2 on Ukraine is possible

Ukraine welcomes proposals to continue the quadripartite negotiations with representatives of the EU, the U.S., Russia and Ukraine in Geneva.
This was emphasized at a press briefing at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center by Deputy Foreign Minister Danylo Lubkivsky, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We welcome proposals for the continuation of the negotiation process, which was founded on April 17 in Geneva. At the same time, we clearly express our position: at this meeting, it is necessary to review the implementation of the agreements, taken in Geneva and enshrined in the Geneva declaration by all the parties," he said.
As the diplomat said, the meeting should also be focused on the immediate objectives. First, it must be a program of the way out of the crisis. Successful presidential elections as a tool to stabilize the situation in Ukraine should also be one of the objectives of the negotiations. In addition, occupation of Crimea by Russia should also be a subject of negotiations, the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
Lubkivsky said that consultations on Geneva 2 continue so far in Ukraine. He noted that the quadrilateral format of the meeting (EU, U.S., Russia and Ukraine) should be retained.
"The exact date of this meeting will be further informed, once appropriate consultations bring results," the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine said.
