Korchynskiy, Tyahnybok and Yarosh were a part of armed groups in Chechnya

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation established that the leader of the Ukrainian Bratstvo party Dmytro Korchynskiy was allegedly coordinating armed groups in Chechnya, moreover, apparently the leader of Svoboda party Oleh Tyahnybok was a member of it.

According to the RF Investigative Committee of the Northern Caucasus federal district, a criminal case was begun concerning a number of Ukrainians, who were involved in UNA-UNSO [Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's Self-Defense]. They include Ihor Mazur, Valeriy Bobrovych, Dmyto Korchynskiy, Andriy and Oleh Tyahnybok, Dmytro Yarosh, Volodymyr Mamalyha, and others.
They are all suspected in crimes stipulated in Article 209 Parts I and II of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Creation of a stable armed group (band) with the aim of assaulting individuals or organizations, operation of such a group (band), and also participation in such group (band).

During investigation of the criminal case about continuous shootouts by the illegal armed groups under the leadership of Shamil Basayev and Khattab with the military of 76th Pskov division of Airborne Forces on the territory of Chechen Republic, we received an information about organization of the group consisting of UNA UNSO members and their participation on the side of Chechen separatists in battles against federal forces during the period of 1994-1995. According to the investigation, the leaders of this group were Mazur, Bobrovych, Korchynskiy, and others, other participants were Tyahnybok brothers, Yarosh, Mamalyha and other unidentified persons,

Therefore, the RF Investigative Committee decided to combine these criminal cases in one proceeding.
The investigation was authorized to the Main investigation department of the RF Investigative Committee of the Northern Caucasus federal district.
