EU to support another Geneva meeting if it helps stabilize situation in Ukraine - Kocijancic

The EU supports the initiative to continue multilateral consultations with a view to settling the situation in Ukraine.
Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, said this at a briefing on Tuesday, a Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels reported.
"We are open to all initiatives and meetings if they lead to a de-escalation and cessation of violence," she said.
Kocijancic said that the European Union was taking an active part in the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine. She recalled that Ashton was in Washington on Tuesday and that last Friday she visited Germany to seek ways to overcome the political crisis.
As reported, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier proposed holding a second meeting in Geneva with representatives of the EU, the United States, Russia and Ukraine due to the fact that the agreements reached during the first round negotiations were not implemented.
