Ukraine not ready to join NATO - Poroshenko

Presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko believes that Ukraine could not become a NATO member in the nearest future.
The politician's press service informs.
“Ukraine, which is in the state of war, according to the NATO Statute, has no right to submit an application to join the organization,” Poroshenko has said about this at a press conference in Kirovohrad.
According to him, to join NATO, "it is necessary to win the war and bring peace and tranquility" in the state.
Poroshenko stressed that the future President must unite Ukraine. “When 70 percent are for NATO in the country - Poroshenko will be the first to lead (to NATO), if 30 percent, then - no, because this is a possible risk to lose Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Kharkiv or Odesa,” he believes.
Poroshenko also reminded that a new form of the security agreement is being developed and coordinated with the European Union leaders, which will replace the Budapest Memorandum.
