Ukraine renews calling up to military service because of Russian aggression
Calling up to the military service was resumed in Ukraine, because of the threat of the Russia aggression and intensification of separatist armed formations in the east.
A decree was signed by Acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov, the press service of the head of state informs.
"Given the further aggravation of the social and political situation in eastern and southern Ukraine, facts of undisguised aggression, intensification of actions of unlawful pro-Russian armed formations, capture and blocking of government buildings, military control bodies, military units, transport communications in Donetsk and Luhansk regions that is a threat of encroachment on territorial integrity and interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, to carry out drafting in the army," the document says.
In accordance with the decree, drafted to the army will be male citizens of Ukraine, medically fit for military service in the peacetime, who on the day of departure to the military units will be 18 years and older persons, who have not attained the age of 25 and do not have the right to exemption or deferment from the military service.
In addition, as concerns the call of officers, the citizens of Ukraine will be called, who received higher education in the qualification of no less than a bachelor's degree, completed the full course of the military training program for reserve officers and assigned to the corresponding military rank of reserve officer.
The decree comes into force from the date of its publication.
