Arrested on May 1 “Odessa separatist” appears to be Belorussian with criminal past




In Odessa, at the pro-Russian meeting on May 1, a native Belorussian was detained, previously searched on suspicion of rape.

At Kulykiv field, a 37-year old participant of the pro-Russian meeting attacked ENG crew of the First local channel. As a result, a cameraman was injured.
Arrestee was residing in a tent camp at the Kulykiv field. According to the statement, he was earlier wanted by police on suspicion of rape. He is presently giving evidence.
Several police squads came at the Kulykiv field, surrounding activists. Having understood that the situation is against them [pro-Russia supporters], they handed over the Belorussian to police officers and blamed ENG crew in provocations. A pre-trial investigation has stared upon causing minor bodily injuries. A man, who hit the journalist, is likely to face a fine or correctional labor. The maximum punishment according the article is imprisonment for the period of up to two years, the statement reads.
In case the Belorussian is proved to be involved in terrorist actions or anti-State unrests, he could face a punishment in the form of imprisonment for the term of up to 15 years.
