Turchynov: Donetsk Region Situation Beyond Control

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada/Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov thinks the situation in Donetsk Region is beyond control, he has told a conference with representatives of regional state administrations. "Today the government in this city [Donetsk] does not control the situation, like in some other parts of Donetsk Region," he said. Turchynov underlines, security services are incapable of promptly taking the situation in Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region under control. In his words, many power-wielding agencies personnel either assist or collaborate with separatists gangs. Turchynov remarks, lots of these regions dwellers welcome seizure of administrative buildings and destabilisation of the situation in the State.
Turchynov opines, eastern provinces residents are deceived by Russian propaganda. He appeals for governors to help uniformed services stabilise the situation, especially on the eve of May holidays. Turchynov underlines, Russian forces plan active provocations for the holidays. He also says Russia has massed its Armed Forces at the eastern, southern and northern borders, ready to intrude in Ukraine any moment. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Turchynov calls Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov to replace heads of the Internal Affairs Ministry Directorates in Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region.
